What are we going to do: Be adventurous! Walking through the mine galleries, admire geological formations that are about 230 million years old, in an underground route 230 m deep. Along a 1.3 km trail and with the interpretation of a guide, get to know the applications and usefulness of rock salt, combined with an evolution of the mining process throughout history. Observe the geological beauty of the rock salt walls and the old and current machinery exposed in the mine and learn about the importance of this place in the geological and economic context of the region. From another artistic perspective, learn about the history of Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners, interpreted by contemporary artist Klaus Zylla through twelve very colorful paintings.

What’s included: Mine tour interpreted by a guide in portuguese + Exhibition Painting by Klaus Zylla (Santa Bárbara - Contemporary View). | Supply of all necessary safety equipment during the visit, namely, safety helmet, mining flashlight and high visibility reflective vest.

Who can attend: Participants between 6 and 106 years old, having full mobility.

Observations Comfortable clothing and closed sports shoes are recommended. | Temperature inside the mine 23º C (73.4º F). | All safety equipment is delivered before the visit begins and collected / returned at the end of it. | Unsuitable visit to participants with reduced mobility, with scotophobia (fear of the dark) or claustrophobia to spaces like underground public transport, underground garages and natural caves with organized visits or mines.
